Book 2 - Chap 6 - How Does God Touch Our Hearts?    grp086
The Impact of Jesus' Clear and Colorful Teaching.
Ice-breaker: Describe some stories that you heard from a friendor a teacher.

Matthew 6: 2When you give to the poor, don't blowa loud horn. That's what show-offs do in the meeting places and on thestreet corners, because they are always looking for praise. I can assureyou that they already have their reward. 3When you give to thepoor, don't let anyone know about it. 4Then your gift will begiven in secret. Your Father knows what is done in secret, and he willreward you.....
6When you pray, go into a room aloneand close the door. Pray to your Father in private. He knows what is donein private, and he will reward you. 7When you pray, don't talkon and on as people do who don't know God. They think God likes to hearlong prayers. 8Don't be like them. Your Father knows what youneed before you ask. (CEV)

Luke 12: 15...he said to the crowd, "Don't be greedy! Owning a lot of things won't make your life safe."
16So Jesus told them this story: A richman's farm produced a big crop, 17and he said to himself, "Whatcan I do? I don't have a place large enough to store everything." 18 Later,he said, "Now I know what I'll do. I'll tear down my barns and build biggerones, where I can store all my grain and other goods. 19 ThenI'll say to myself, 'You have stored up enough good things to last for years to come. Live it up! Eat, drink, and enjoy yourself.' " 20 ButGod said to him, "You fool! Tonight you will die. Then who will get what you have stored up?"21"This is what happens to people who store up everything for themselves, but are poor in the sight of God." (CEV)

Luke 12: 22...I tell you not to worry about your life! Don't worry about having something to eat or wear. 23Life ismore than food or clothing. 24Look at the crows! They don'tplant or harvest, and they don't have storehouses or barns. But God takescare of them. You are much more important than any birds. 25Canworry make you live longer? 26If you don't have power over smallthings, why worry about everything else?
27Look how the wild flowers grow! Theydon't work hard to make their clothes. But I tell you that Solomon withall his wealth wasn't as well clothed as one of these flowers. 28Godgives such beauty to everything that grows in the fields, even though itis here today and thrown into a fire tomorrow. Won't he do even more foryou? You have such little faith! 29Don't keep worrying abouthaving something to eat or drink. 30Only people who don't knowGod are always worrying about such things. Your Father knows what you need.31Butput God's work first, and these things will be yours as well. (CEV)

Luke 12: 32My little group of disciples, don't beafraid! Your Father wants to give you the kingdom. 33Sell whatyou have and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves moneybags thatnever wear out. Make sure your treasure is safe in heaven, where thievescannot steal it and moths cannot destroy it. 34Your heart willalways be where your treasure is. (CEV)
