Luke 4: 16Jesus went back to Nazareth, where he hadbeen brought up, and as usual he went to the meeting place on the Sabbath.When he stood up to read from the Scriptures, 17he was giventhe book of Isaiah the prophet. He opened it and read, 18"TheLORD'S Spirit has come to me, because he has chosen me to tell the goodnews to the poor. The LORD has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners,to give sight to the blind, to free everyone who suffers, 19andto say, 'This is the year the LORD has chosen.' " 20Jesus closedthe book, then handed it back to the man in charge and sat down. Everyonein the meeting place looked straight at Jesus. 21Then Jesussaid to them, "What you have just heard me read has come true today." (CEV)
Matthew 12: 46While Jesus was still speaking to thecrowds, his mother and brothers came and stood outside because they wantedto talk with him. 47Someone told Jesus, "Your mother and brothersare standing outside and want to talk with you."48Jesus answered,"Who is my mother and who are my brothers?" 49Then he pointedto his disciples and said, "These are my mother and my brothers! 50Anyonewho obeys my Father in heaven is my brother or sister or mother." (CEV)
John 7 37On the last and most important day of thefestival, Jesus stood up and shouted, "If you are thirsty, come to me anddrink! 38Have faith in me, and you will have life-giving waterflowing from deep inside you, just as the Scriptures say."39Jesuswas talking about the Holy Spirit, who would be given to everyone thathad faith in him. The Spirit had not yet been given to anyone, since Jesushad not yet been given his full glory. (CEV)
John 6: 35Jesus replied: I am the bread that giveslife! No one who comes to me will ever be hungry. No one who has faithin me will ever be thirsty. 36I have told you already that youhave seen me and still do not have faith in me. 37Everythingand everyone that the Father has given me will come to me, and I won'tturn any of them away. 38I didn't come from heaven to do whatI want! I came to do what the Father wants me to do. He sent me, 39andhe wants to make certain that none of the ones he has given me will belost. Instead, he wants me to raise them to life on the last day. 40MyFather wants everyone who sees the Son to have faith in him and to haveeternal life. Then I will raise them to life on the last day. (CEV)
John 14: 1 Jesus said to his disciples, "Don't beworried! Have faith in God and have faith in me. 2There aremany rooms in my Father's house. I wouldn't tell you this, unless it wastrue. I am going there to prepare a place for each of you. 3AfterI have done this, I will come back and take you with me. Then we will betogether. 4 You know the way to where I am going." 5Thomassaid, "LORD, we don't even know where you are going! How can we know theway?" 6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life!" Jesus answered."Without me, no one can go to the Father. 7If you had knownme, you would have known the Father. But from now on, you do know him,and you have seen him." (CEV)
