Book 3 - Chap 8 - Why Not Be Thankful For Our Wonderful Treasure, God?        grp124
How Important Is It to Think About Jesus & His Word?
Ice Breaker: What did you experience as a child when you did or didn't listen closely to your parents?

Psalm 119: 55Even in the night I think about you, Lord, and I obey your Law... 59I pay careful attention as you lead me, and I follow closely... 62Your laws are so fair that I wake up and praise you in the middle of the night. 63I choose as my friends everyone who worships you and follows your teachings. (CEV)

John 3: 11...we know what we are talking about because we have seen it ourselves... 12If you don't believe when I talk to you about things on earth, how can you possibly believe if I talk to you about things in heaven?  (CEV)

2 Timothy 2: 6And farmers who work hard are the first to eat what grows in their field. 7If you keep in mind what I have told you, the Lord will help you understand completely. 8Keep your mind on Jesus Christ!  (CEV)

Philippians 3: 8Nothing is as wonderful as knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have given up everything else and count it all as garbage. All I want is Christ 9and to know that I belong to him .    14I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven... 15All of us who are mature should think in this same way, And if any of you think differently, God will make it clear to you ....  (CEV)

Hebrews 12: 2We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete.... 3So keep you mind on Jesus, who put up with many insults from sinners. Then you won't get discouraged and give up.  (CEV)

Romans 8: 5People who are ruled by their desires think only of themselves. Everyone who is ruled by the Holy Spirit thinks about spiritual things. 6If our minds are ruled by our desires, we will die. But if our minds are ruled by the Spirit, we will have life and peace. 7Our desires fight against God, because they do not and cannot obey God's laws.... 10But Christ lives in you. So you are alive because God has accepted you, even though your bodies must die because of your sins. 11Yet God raised Jesus to life! God's Spirit now lives in you, and he will raise you to life by his Spirit.  (CEV)

1 Peter 4: 10Each of you has been blessed with one of God's many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gift well. 11If you have the gift of speaking, preach God's message. If you have the gift of helping others, do it with the strength that God supplies. Everything should be done in a way that will bring honor to God because of Jesus Christ, who is glorious and powerful forever.  (CEV)

Ephesians 4: 11Christ chose some of us to be apostles, prophets, missionaries, pastors, and teachers, 12so that his people would learn to serve and his body would grow strong. 13This will continue until we are united by our faith and by our understanding of the Son of God. Then we will be mature, just as Christ is, and we will be completely like him.  (CEV)
