Book 3 - Chap 10 - How Does God Give Us Victory Through Faith?    grp145
God Chooses and Uses Ordinary People.
Ice-Breaker: Describe one of the very ordinary things you learned to do growing up.

1 Corinthians 1: 19As God says in the Scriptures, "I will destroy the wisdom of all who claim to be wise. I will confuse those who think they know so much." 20What happened to those wise people? What happened to those experts in the Scriptures? What happened to the ones who think they have all the answers? Didn't God show that the wisdom of this world is foolish? 21God was wise and decided not to let the people of this world use their wisdom to learn about him. (CEV)

1 Corinthians 1: 26...The people of this world didn't think that many of you were wise. Only a few of you were in places of power, and not many of you came from important families. 27But God chose the foolish things of this world to put the wise to shame. He chose the weak things of this world to put the powerful to shame. 28What the world thinks is worthless, useless, and nothing at all is what God has used to destroy what the world considers important. (CEV)

Luke 16: 15But Jesus told them: ....God sees what is in your heart. The things that most people think are important are worthless as far as God is concerned. (CEV)

Psalms 19: 7.... His teachings last forever, and they give wisdom to ordinary people. (CEV)

Psalms 119: 130Understanding your word brings light to the minds of ordinary people. (CEV)

Proverbs 1: 2Proverbs will teach you wisdom and self-control..... 4From these, an ordinary person can learn to be smart, and young people can gain knowledge and good sense. (CEV)

Matthew 11: 25At that moment Jesus said: My Father, Lord of heaven and earth, I am grateful that you hid all this from wise and educated people and showed it to ordinary people. 26Yes, Father, that is what pleased you....  28If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest. 29Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest. 30This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light. (CEV)

2 Corinthians 12: 9But he replied, "My kindness is all you need. My power is strongest when you are weak." So if Christ keeps giving me his power, I will gladly brag about how weak I am. (CEV)

3. What makes the things most prized by the people of the world so worthless to God?
4. How Is the strength supplied by Christ so powerful even though we are very weak?
