God Wants Us to Grow in Gratitude      grp171     Near Chapel     23 Dec 01
Jesus Came to Give Everyone a Wonderful Hope
Icebreaker: Tell us about a family or other reunion that you looked forward to.

Matthew 12: 21All nations will place their hope in him." (CEV)

Colossians 1: 27... the mystery is that Christ lives in you, and he is your hope of sharing in God's glory.... 2: 2... Not only is he the key to God's mystery, 3but all wisdom and knowledge are hidden away in him. (CEV)

Hebrews 6: 18... Now his promises should greatly encourage us to take hold of the hope that is right in front of us. 19This hope is like a firm and steady anchor for our souls. (CEV)

Hebrews 11: 1Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see. 2It was their faith that made our ancestors pleasing to God. (CEV)

Matthew 4: 4Jesus answered, "The Scriptures say: 'No one can live only on food. People need every word that God has spoken.' " (CEV)

Deuteronomy 8: 3... The LORD was teaching you that people need more than food to live; they need every word that the LORD has spoken. (CEV)

1 Corinthians 2: 13Every word we speak was taught to us by God's Spirit, not by human wisdom. And this same Spirit helps us teach spiritual things to spiritual people. (CEV)

Colossians 3: 2Think about what is up there, not about what is here on earth. 3You died, which means that your life is hidden with Christ, who sits beside God. 4Christ gives meaning to your life, and when he appears, you will also appear with him in glory.... 10Each of you is now a new person. You are becoming more and more like your Creator, and you will understand him better. 11... Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.
15.... So let the peace that comes from Christ control your thoughts. And be grateful. 16Let the message about Christ completely fill your lives, while you use all your wisdom to teach and instruct each other. (CEV)

Matthew 11: 25...My Father, Lord of heaven and earth, I am grateful that you hid all this from wise and educated people and showed it to ordinary people. 26Yes, Father, that is what pleased you.... 28If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest. 29Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest. 30This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light.
