Acts 13: ²²....'I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.' ²³"From this man's descendants God has brought to Israel the Savior Jesus, as he promised. (NIV)

Psalm 89: ¹⁹.... I have exalted a young man from among the people. ²⁰I have found David my servant; with my sacred oil I have anointed him....
    ²⁴My faithful love will be with him.... ²⁶He will call out to me, 'You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.' .... ²⁸I will maintain my love to him forever, and my covenant with him will never fail.²⁹I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure. (NIV)

Matthew 5: ⁶God blesses those people who want to obey him more than to eat or drink. They will be given what they want! .... ⁸God blesses those people whose hearts are pure. They will see him! (CEV)

John 16: ²⁷God the Father loves you because you love me, and you believe that I have come from him. ²⁸I came from the Father into the world, but I am leaving the world and returning to the Father.... ³³I have told you this, so that you might have peace in your hearts because of me. While you are in the world, you will have to suffer. But cheer up! I have defeated the world. (CEV)

Romans 2: ¹⁵.... the conscience is like a law written in the human heart. And it will show whether we are forgiven or condemned...(CEV)

2 Corinthians 1: ⁸.... Our sufferings were so horrible and so unbearable that death seemed certain. ⁹In fact, we felt sure that we were going to die. But this made us stop trusting in ourselves and start trusting God, who raises the dead to life. (CEV)

Colossians 1: ²⁷.... Christ lives in you, and he is your hope of sharing in God's glory. ²⁸We announce the message about Christ, and we use all our wisdom to warn and teach everyone, so that all of Christ's followers will grow and become mature. (CEV)

Colossians 2: ²I do it to encourage them. Then as their hearts are joined together in love, they will be wonderfully blessed with complete understanding. And they will truly know Christ. ³... all wisdom and knowledge are hidden away in him. (CEV)

1. Why did God choose David to be king and the one through whom Jesus would come?
2. When we are trusting and faithful in our hearts, why does God feel pleased with us?
3. How can God fill our minds and hearts with cheer in a world full of violence and suffering?
4. What can we do to help God create in us faithful hearts and revolutionize our lives?
5. Explain some of the ways we can become more like David and be like God in our hearts..
