Luke 15: 14He had spent everything, when a bad famine spread through that whole land. Soon he had nothing to eat. (CEV)
Lamentations 3: 21Then I remember something that fills me with hope. 22The LORD'S kindness never fails! If he had not been merciful, we would have been destroyed. 23The LORD can always be trusted to show mercy each morning. 24Deep in my heart I say, "The LORD is all I need; I can depend on him!" 25The LORD is kind to everyone who trusts and obeys him. 26It is good to wait patiently for the LORD to save us. 27When we are young, it is good to struggle hard 28and to sit silently alone, if this is what the LORD intends. 29Being rubbed in the dirt can teach us a lesson; 30we can also learn from insults and hard knocks. (CEV)
Luke 15: 16He would have been glad to eat what the pigs were eating, but no one gave him a thing. 17Finally, he came to his senses and said, "My father's workers have plenty to eat, and here I am, starving to death! (CEV)
Proverbs 26: 11Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. [2 Peter 2: 22] (CEV)
Luke 15: 18I will go to my father and say to him, 'Father, I have sinned against God in heaven and against you. 19I am no longer good enough to be called your son. Treat me like one of your workers.' " (CEV)
Luke 15: 20The younger son got up and started back to his father. But when he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt sorry for him. He ran to his son and hugged and kissed him. 21The son said, "Father, I have sinned against God in heaven and against you. I am no longer good enough to be called your son." 22But his father said to the servants, "Hurry and bring the best clothes and put them on him. Give him a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. (CEV)
Matthew 5: 3God blesses those people who depend only on him. They belong to the kingdom of heaven! .... 5God blesses those people who are humble. The earth will belong to them! (CEV)
Ephesians 1: 18My prayer is that light will flood your hearts and that you will understand the hope that was given to you when God chose you. Then you will discover the glorious blessings that will be yours together with all of God's people. (CEV)
