Matthew 21: ⁴²Jesus replied, ".... the Scriptures say, 'The stone that the builders tossed aside is now the most important stone of all. This is something the Lord has done, and it is amazing to us.' (CEV)

Matthew 5: ¹⁹If you reject even the least important command in the Law and teach others to do the same, you will be the least important person in the kingdom of heaven. But if you obey and teach others its commands, you will have an important place in the kingdom. (CEV)

Matthew 23: ²³.... You give God a tenth of the spices from your garden, such as mint, dill, and cumin. Yet you neglect the more important matters .... , such as justice, mercy, and faithfulness. Matthew 6: ³²Only people who don't know God are always worrying about such things. Your Father in heaven knows that you need all of these. ³³But more than anything else, put God's work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well. ³⁴Don't worry about tomorrow. It will take care of itself. You have enough to worry about today. (CEV)

1. Why do religious leaders sometimes neglect the attitudes that are most important to God?
2. When we stop worrying and rushing into things, how do God's Word and God's Spirit help us?
3. How do evil people and their errors influence us and cause us to lose the balance God wants?
4. What is there about love, faithfulness, and mercy that produce in us wisdom and good priorities?
5. Explain how balancing your own desires with service to needy people brings people to God's Way?
