Ephesians 1: ²²God has put all things under the power of Christ, and for the good of the church he has made him the head of everything. (CEV)

Mark 3: ¹⁴Then he chose twelve of them to be his apostles, so that they could be with him. He also wanted to send them out to preach (CEV)

Acts 14: ²³Paul and Barnabas chose some leaders for each of the churches. Then they went without eating and prayed that the Lord would take good care of these leaders. (CEV)

1 Timothy 3: ³ It is true that anyone who desires to be a church official wants to be something worthwhile. ²That's why officials must have a good reputation and be faithful in marriage. They must be self-controlled, sensible, well-behaved, friendly to strangers, and able to teach. ³They must not be heavy drinkers or troublemakers. Instead, they must be kind and gentle and not love money ⁴Church officials must be in control of their own families, and they must see that their children are obedient and always respectful. ⁵If they don't know how to control their own families, how can they look after God's people? .... ⁷Finally, they must be well-respected by people who are not followers. Then they won't be trapped and disgraced by the devil. (CEV)

Titus 1: ⁷Church officials are in charge of God's work, and so they must also have a good reputation. They must not be bossy, quick-tempered, heavy drinkers, bullies, or dishonest in business.... ⁹They must stick to the true message they were taught, so that their good teaching can help others and correct everyone who opposes it. (CEV)

1 Peter 5: ²Just as shepherds watch over their sheep, you must watch over everyone God has placed in your care. Do it willingly in order to please God, and not simply because you think you must... ³Don't be bossy to those people who are in your care, but set an example for them. (CEV)

James 5: ¹⁴If you are sick, ask the church leaders to come and pray for you. Ask them to put olive oil on you in the name of the Lord. (CEV)

1. Why is it important for leaders and facilitators to show understanding care for people?
2. When Jesus chose His little flock of disciples, how did He make them into a family?
3. How can leaders help all of us to discover and use the spiritual gifts we have from God?
4. What can you do to lead the people around you who may be under your influence?
