Matthew 6: 24You cannot be the slave of two masters!
You will like one more than the other or be more loyal to one than the
other. You cannot serve both God and money. (CEV)
1. How do we learn best to let God take complete care of our
daily lives
Luke 16: 9My disciples, I tell you to use wicked wealth
to make friends for yourselves. Then when it is gone, you will be welcomed
into an eternal home. 10Anyone who can be trusted in little
matters can also be trusted in important matters. But anyone who is dishonest
in little matters will be dishonest in important matters. 11If
you cannot be trusted with this wicked wealth, who will trust you with
true wealth? 12And if you cannot be trusted with what belongs
to someone else, who will give you something that will be your own? 13You
cannot be the slave of two masters. You will like one more than the other
or be more loyal to one than to the other. You cannot serve God and money.
14The Pharisees really loved money. So
when they heard what Jesus said, they made fun of him. 15But
Jesus told them: You are always making yourselves look good, but God sees
what is in your heart. The things that most people think are important
are worthless as far as God is concerned. (CEV)
3. What does God expect us to do with the many gifts and talents
that He supplies?
Ecclesiastes 5: 10If you love money and wealth, you
will never be satisfied with what you have. This doesn't make sense either.
11The more you have, the more everyone expects from you. Your
money won't do you any good - others will just spend it for you. 12If
you have to work hard for a living, you can rest well at night, even if
you don't have much to eat. But if you are rich, you can't even sleep.
(CEV)
4. When we have a love for possessions, what happens to our
lives?
1 Corinthians 16: 2That is, each Sunday each of you
must put aside part of what you have earned. If you do this, you won't
have to take up a collection when I come. (CEV)
5. Describe how God has blessed you when you have done something
to help others.
1 Timothy 6: 10The love of money causes all kinds
of trouble. Some people want money so much that they have given up their
faith and caused themselves a lot of pain.....
17Warn the rich people of this world
not to be proud or to trust in wealth that is easily lost. Tell them to
have faith in God, who is rich and blesses us with everything we need to
enjoy life.
18Instruct them to do as many good deeds as they
can and to help everyone. Remind the rich to be generous and share what
they have. 19This will lay a solid foundation for the future,
so that they will know what true life is like. (CEV)
6. Why can money be such a difficult problem for us whether
we have little or much?
