Matthew 7: ¹³Go in through the narrow gate. The gate to destruction is wide, and the road that leads there is easy to follow. A lot of people go through that gate. ¹⁴But the gate to life is very narrow. The road that leads there is so hard to follow that only a few people find it.....
    ²¹Not everyone who calls me their Lord will get into the kingdom of heaven. Only the ones who obey my Father in heaven will get in. ²²On the day of judgment many will call me their Lord. They will say, "We preached in your name, and in your name we forced out demons and worked many miracles." ²³But I will tell them, "I will have nothing to do with you! Get out of my sight, you evil people!" (CEV)
1. How does God feel about people who try hard to please Him and still make mistakes?

Luke 13: ²²As Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem, he taught the people in the towns and villages. ²³Someone asked him, "Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?" Jesus answered: ²⁴Do all you can to go in by the narrow door! A lot of people will try to get in, but will not be able to. ²⁵Once the owner of the house gets up and locks the door, you will be left standing outside....
    ²⁹People will come from all directions and sit down to feast in God's kingdom. ³⁰There the ones who are now least important will be the most important, and those who are now most important will be least important. (CEV)
2. Why will God make people who are not now important later become the most important?

Luke 8: ¹⁷There is nothing hidden that will not be found. There is no secret that will not be well known. ¹⁸Pay attention to how you listen! Everyone who has something will be given more, but people who have nothing will lose what little they think they have. (CEV)
3. What are some reasons that we should be careful when we listen to what God teaches?

Mark 4: ²³If you have ears, pay attention! ²⁴Listen carefully to what you hear! The way you treat others will be the way you will be treated - and even worse. ²⁵Everyone who has something will be given more. But people who don't have anything will lose what little they have. (CEV)
4. Who is it that God will give more to and why will some people lose what they have?

Luke 12: ³²My little group of disciples, don't be afraid! Your Father wants to give you the kingdom. ³³Sell what you have and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves moneybags that never wear out. Make sure your treasure is safe in heaven, where thieves cannot steal it and moths cannot destroy it. ³⁴Your heart will always be where your treasure is....
    ⁴⁸.... If God has been generous with you, he will expect you to serve him well. But if he has been more than generous, he will expect you to serve him even better. (CEV)
5. When we really want to have treasures in Heaven, what can we do to build these up?
