Matthew 9: ⁹As Jesus was leaving, he saw a tax collector named Matthew sitting at the place for paying taxes. Jesus said to him, "Come with me." Matthew got up and went with him. ¹⁰Later, Jesus and his disciples were having dinner at Matthew's house. Many tax collectors and other sinners were also there. ¹¹Some Pharisees asked Jesus' disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and other sinners?"
    ¹²Jesus heard them and answered, "Healthy people don't need a doctor, but sick people do. ¹³Go and learn what the Scriptures mean when they say, 'Instead of offering sacrifices to me, I want you to be merciful to others.' I didn't come to invite good people to be my followers. I came to invite sinners." (CEV)
1. Why did Jesus give "good Pharisees" a hard time while He invited sinners into His family?

John 13: ³⁴"But I am giving you a new command. You must love each other, just as I have loved you. ³⁵If you love each other, everyone will know that you are my disciples" (CEV)
2. How can we love each other just as Jesus loves us and let ourselves be guided by Him?

Romans 12: ^5.... There are many of us, but we each are part of the body of Christ, as well as part of one another. ⁶God has also given each of us different gifts to use.... ¹⁰Love each other as brothers and sisters and honor others more than you do yourself. (CEV)
3. Who in our groups need to be honored more than honoring and serving ourselves?

John 17: ²¹I want all of them to be one with each other, just as I am one with you and you are one with me. I also want them to be one with us. Then the people of this world will believe that you sent me. (CEV)
4. When we show the world that we love each other, how does that help people to believe?

I John 3: ¹Think how much the Father loves us. He loves us so much that he lets us be called his children, as we truly are....      ¹⁶We know what love is because Jesus gave his life for us. That's why we must give our lives for each other. ¹⁷If we have all we need and see one of our own people in need, we must have pity on that person, or else we cannot say we love God. (CEV)
5. What is there about children that makes us love them - why does God feel that way also?

1 Corinthians 12: ¹⁸But God has put all parts of our body together in the way that he decided is best. ¹⁹A body isn't really a body, unless there is more than one part. ²⁰It takes many parts to make a single body. ²¹That's why the eyes cannot say they don't need the hands.... ²⁷Together you are the body of Christ. Each one of you is part of his body. (CEV)
6. Tell us what it means to you to be part of God's family in a way the never ends?
