1 Peter 4: ¹⁰Each of you has been blessed with one of God's many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gift well. (CEV)
1. Why did God place us on this earth, and what is at least one gift you have?

Luke 10: ³³.... When he saw the man, he felt sorry for him ³⁴and went over to him. He treated his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put him on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him.... ³⁶Then Jesus asked, "Which one of these three people was a real neighbor to the man who was beaten up by robbers?" ³⁷The teacher answered, "The one who showed pity." Jesus said, "Go and do the same!" (CEV)
2. What was so unusual about the Samaritan, and who do we know like him?

Matthew 25: ³⁵When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat, and when I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I was a stranger, you welcomed me, ³⁶and when I was naked, you gave me clothes to wear. When I was sick, you took care of me, and when I was in jail, you visited me." ³⁷Then the ones who pleased the Lord will ask, "When did we give you something to eat or drink? ³⁸When did we welcome you as a stranger or give you clothes to wear ³⁹or visit you while you were sick or in jail?" ⁴⁰The king will answer, "Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me." (CEV)
1 Corinthians 10: ²³Some of you say, "We can do whatever we want to!" But I tell you that not everything may be good or helpful. ²⁴We should think about others and not about ourselves. (CEV)
3. Who are the unimportant people in our lives that we might be tempted to ignore?

2 Corinthians 1: ³Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! The Father is a merciful God, who always gives us comfort. ⁴He comforts us when we are in trouble, so that we can share that same comfort with others in trouble. (CEV)
4. When we sympathize with the pain of others, what enables us to do that well?

Proverbs 3: ²⁷Do all you can for everyone who deserves your help. ²⁸Don't tell your neighbor to come back tomorrow, if you can help today. (CEV)
5. How can we remember to seize the moment and not make excuses and go our own way?

Galatians 6: ⁷You cannot fool God, so don't make a fool of yourself! You will harvest what you plant. ⁸If you follow your selfish desires, you will harvest destruction, but if you follow the Spirit, you will harvest eternal life. ⁹Don't get tired of helping others. You will be rewarded when the time is right, if you don't give up. ¹⁰We should help people whenever we can, especially if they are followers of the Lord. (CEV)
7. Tell us about a person you know who makes a practice out of serving and helping others.
