Philippians 4: 11I am not complaining about having
too little. I have learned to be satisfied with whatever I have. 12I
know what it is to be poor or to have plenty, and I have lived under all
kinds of conditions. I know what it means to be full or to be hungry, to
have too much or too little.
13Christ gives me the strength
to face anything. (CEV)
1. Why does contentment when single also bring marriage contentment?
What often makes a marriage unhappy?
Jesus in John 15: 9I have loved you, just as my Father
has loved me. So remain faithful to my love for you. 10If you
obey me, I will keep loving you, just as my Father keeps loving me, because
I have obeyed him. 11I have told you this to make you as completely
happy as I am. (CEV)
2. How does knowing Christ brings real happiness and joy, for those
married and those single?
Genesis 2: 18The LORD God said, "It isn't good for
the man to live alone". (CEV)
Jesus in John 10: 10.... I came so that everyone
would have life, and have it in its fullest. (CEV)
3. Why do we also need a relationship with God when we are married
and no longer alone ?
Psalms 51: 6But you want complete honesty, so teach
me true wisdom. (CEV)
4. How does honesty before marriage prevent disappointment with mates
after marriage?
Jesus in Matthew 11: 28If you are tired from carrying
heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest. 29Take the
yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle
and humble, and you will find rest. 30This yoke is easy to bear,
and this burden is light. (CEV)
5. When we allow Jesus to heal our brokenness, what happens in our
marriages?
Deuteronomy 22: 10Don't hitch an ox and a donkey to
your plow at the same time. (CEV)
1 Peter 3: 15Honor Christ and let him be the Lord
of your life. Always be ready to give an answer when someone asks you about
your hope. 16Give a kind and respectful answer and keep your
conscience clear. This way you will make people ashamed for saying bad
things about your good conduct as a follower of Christ. (CEV)
6. Describe differences between those who do and those who don't follow
Jesus as the Lord.
