Matthew 18: 15If one of my followers sins against
you, go and point out what was wrong. But do it in private, just between
the two of you. (CEV)
1. Why is it so important to not tell others when you have a conflict
with a friend?
Proverbs 10: 19You will say the wrong thing if you
talk too much so be sensible and watch what you say. Proverbs 17:
27It makes a lot of sense to be a person of few words and to
stay calm.
28Even fools seem smart when they are quiet. (CEV)
2. What happened when you jumped to an wrong conclusion and made a
serious mistake?
Proverbs 15: 1A kind answer soothes angry feelings,
but harsh words stir them up. 2Words of wisdom come from the
wise, but fools speak foolishness. Proverbs 17: 9You
will keep your friends if you forgive them, but you will lose your friends
if you keep talking about what they did wrong.... (CEV)
3. When a friend of yours kept on criticizing what you were doing,
how did you feel?
Matthew 7: 1Don't condemn others, and God won't condemn
you. 2God will be as hard on you as you are on others! He will
treat you exactly as you treat them. 3You can see the speck
in your friend's eye, but you don't notice the log in your own eye. 4How
can you say, "My friend, let me take the speck out of your eye," when you
don't see the log in your own eye? (CEV)
4. Where one person can't see their own faults, why do they tend to
criticize others?
Ephesians 4: 25We are part of the same body. Stop
lying and start telling each other the truth.
26Don't get so
angry that you sin. Don't go to bed angry 27and don't give the
devil a chance.... 31Stop being bitter and angry and mad at
others. Don't yell at one another or curse each other or ever be rude.
32Instead, be kind and merciful, and forgive others, just as
God forgave you... (CEV)
5. Who suffers the most when we get angry and refuse to forgive or
accept others as they are?
Colossians 3: 12God loves you and has chosen you as
his own special people. So be gentle, kind, humble, meek, and patient.
13Put up with each other, and forgive anyone who does you wrong,
just as Christ has forgiven you. 14Love is more important than
anything else. It is what ties everything completely together. 15Each
one of you is part of the body of Christ, and you were chosen to live together
in peace. (CEV)
6. Describe an experience when a friend forgave you when you didn't
really deserve it.
Ephesians 1: 19I want you to know about the great
and mighty power that God has for us followers. It is the same wonderful
power he used 20when he raised Christ from death and let him
sit at his right side in heaven. (CEV)
7. How can each of us be sure to experience the wonderful power that
God has for us?
