Job 6: 11Why should I patiently hope when my strength
is gone? 12I am not strong as stone or bronze, 13and
I have finally reached the end of my rope. (CEV)
1. What are some things that happened to Job that made him seem impatient
with God?
Job 24: 1Why doesn't God set a time for court? Why
don't his people know where he can be found? .... Job 30: 20I
beg God for help, but there is no answer; and when I stand up, he simply
stares.... 24No one refuses help to others, when disaster strikes.
25I
mourned for the poor and those who suffered. 26But when I beg
for relief and light, all I receive are disaster and darkness.
(CEV)
2. Why did God keep Job waiting so long before He began to show Himself
to Job?
James 5: 7My friends, be patient until the Lord returns.
Think of farmers who wait patiently for the spring and summer rains to
make their valuable crops grow. 8Be patient like those farmers
and don't give up. The Lord will soon be here! 9Don't grumble
about each other or you will be judged, and the judge is right outside
the door. 10My friends, follow the example of the prophets who
spoke for the Lord. They were patient, even when they had to suffer. 11In
fact, we praise the ones who endured the most. You remember how patient
Job was and how the Lord finally helped him. The Lord did this because
he is so merciful and kind. (CEV)
3. When we grumble about the way life is treating us, how can we change
to a wiser attitude?
Romans 2: 1Some of you accuse others of doing wrong.
But there is no excuse for what you do. When you judge others, you condemn
yourselves, because you are guilty of doing the very same things. 2We
know that God is right to judge everyone who behaves in this way. 3Do
you really think God won't punish you, when you behave exactly like the
people you accuse? 4You surely don't think much of God's wonderful
goodness or of his patience and willingness to put up with you. Don't you
know that the reason God is good to you is because he wants you to turn
to him? 4. How should God discipline us when we judge others for the same
things we ourselves do?
1 Timothy 1: 16But since I was worse than anyone
else, God had mercy on me and let me be an example of the endless patience
of Christ Jesus. He did this so that others would put their faith in Christ
and have eternal life. (CEV)
5. Describe some of the things that Paul had done that showed "the
endless patience of Christ".
2 Peter 3: 8Dear friends, don't forget that for the
Lord one day is the same as a thousand years, and a thousand years is the
same as one day. 9The Lord isn't slow about keeping his promises,
as some people think he is. In fact, God is patient, because he wants everyone
to turn from sin and no one to be lost. (CEV)
6. Who is God most concerned with that makes Him take more time than
we would take?
