1 Peter 1: 3Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ. God is so good, and by raising Jesus from death, he has given us
new life and a hope that lives on. 4God has something stored
up for you in heaven, where it will never decay or be ruined or disappear.
(CEV)
1. What is the purpose of new life in Christ?
Numbers 13: 30Caleb calmed down the crowd and said,
"Let's go and take the land. I know we can do it!" (CEV)
2. Describe whether or not faith like Caleb's is common today.
Matthew 19: 26Jesus looked straight at them and said,
"There are some things that people cannot do, but God can do anything."
(CEV)
Philippians 4: 12.... I have lived under all kinds
of conditions. I know what it means to be full or to be hungry, to have
too much or too little. 13Christ gives me the strength to face
anything. (CEV)
3. Peter said, "We left all to follow You." What do we get?
Matthew 17 20-21.... If you had faith no larger than
a mustard seed, you could tell this mountain to move from here to there.
And it would. Everything would be possible for you. (CEV)
4. How might is be dangerous if everything was possible for our use?
James 1: 6But when you ask for something, you must
have faith and not doubt. Anyone who doubts is like an ocean wave tossed
around in a storm. 7-8If you are that kind of person, you can't
make up your mind, and you surely can't be trusted. So don't expect the
Lord to give you anything at all. (CEV)
5. Why should we be careful what we ask God for?
Romans 15: 4And the Scriptures were written to teach
and encourage us by giving us hope.... 13I pray that God, who
gives hope, will bless you with complete happiness and peace because of
your faith. And may the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope. (CEV)
Hebrews 6: 19This hope is like a firm and steady
anchor for our souls. In fact, hope reaches behind the curtain and into
the most holy place. (CEV)
6. Why is reading of the Scriptures given so little of our time?
Proverbs 17: 9You will keep your friends if you forgive
them, but you will lose your friends if you keep talking about what they
did wrong. (CEV)
7. Why is it best to listen to our friends before giving them teaching
or advice?
