John 1: 9The true light that shines on everyone was
coming into the world.... 11He came into his own world, but
his own nation did not welcome him. 12Yet some people accepted
him and put their faith in him. So he gave them the right to be the children
of God. 13They were not God's children by nature or because
of any human desires. God himself was the one who made them his children.

1. Is there something about Jesus that makes you not recognize
Him?
John 3: 31God's Son comes from heaven and is above
all others.... 32He speaks about what he has seen and heard,
and yet no one believes him. 33But everyone who does believe
him has shown that God is truthful. 34The Son was sent to speak
God's message, and he has been given the full power of God's Spirit. 35The
Father loves the Son and has given him everything. 36Everyone
who has faith in the Son has eternal life. But no one who rejects him will
ever share in that life, and God will be angry with them forever. (CEV)
2. With Jesus speaking about what He had seen and heard, why did no
one believe Him?
John 4: 13Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this
water will get thirsty again. 14But no one who drinks the water
I give will ever be thirsty again. The water I give is like a flowing fountain
that gives eternal life." 15The woman replied, "Sir, please
give me a drink of that water! Then I won't get thirsty and have to come
to this well again." (CEV)
3. If this water will keep you from getting "thirsty," why do we experience
unrest?
John 7: 37.... Jesus stood up and shouted, "If you
are thirsty, come to me and drink! 38Have faith in me, and you
will have life-giving water flowing from deep inside you.... (CEV)
John 4: 35.... the fields are ripe and ready to harvest.
36Even now the harvest workers are receiving their reward by
gathering a harvest that brings eternal life.... 37So the saying
proves true, "Some plant the seed, and others harvest the crop." 38I
am sending you to harvest crops in fields where others have done all the
hard work. (CEV)
4. What was so important about Jesus coming from Heaven to "harvest"
people for eternal life?
Luke 5: 31Jesus answered, "Healthy people don't need
a doctor, but sick people do. 32I didn't come to invite good
people to turn to God. I came to invite sinners." (CEV)
Luke 24: 46.... The Scriptures say that the Messiah
must suffer, then three days later he will rise from death. 47....
all people of every nation must be told in my name to turn to God, in order
to be forgiven. So beginning in Jerusalem, 48you must tell everything
that has happened. (CEV)
5. Why weren't good people invited?
Romans 1: 16I am proud of the good news! It is God's
powerful way of saving all people who have faith, whether they are Jews
or Gentiles. (CEV)
