Luke 12: 32My little group of disciples, don't be
afraid! Your Father wants to give you the kingdom. 33Sell what
you have and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves moneybags that
never wear out. Make sure your treasure is safe in heaven, where thieves
cannot steal it and moths cannot destroy it. 34Your heart will
always be where your treasure is. (CEV)
1. Describe whether or not these verses are teaching against having
money. What are they for?
Acts 2: 44And all the believers met together constantly
and shared everything with each other,
45selling their possessions
and dividing with those in need. 46They.... met in small groups
in homes for Communion, and shared their meals with great joy and thankfulness...
(TLB)
2. In what way is meeting together something spiritual or not?
1 Corinthians 12: 18But God has put all parts of our
body together in the way that he decided is best. 19A body isn't
really a body, unless there is more than one part. 20It takes
many parts to make a single body. 21That's why the eyes cannot
say they don't need the hands. That's also why the head cannot say it doesn't
need the feet.22In fact, we cannot get along without the parts
of the body that seem to be the weakest. 23We take special care
to dress up some parts of our bodies. We are modest about our personal
parts,..... 27Together you are the body of Christ. Each
one of you is part of his body. (CEV)
3. How can we think in terms of some being more important than others?
How not?
James 5: 16If you have sinned, you should tell each
other what you have done. Then you can pray for one another and be healed.
The prayer of an innocent person is powerful, and it can help a lot....
19My friends, if any followers have wandered away from the truth,
you should try to lead them back. 20If you turn sinners from
the wrong way, you will save them from death, and many of their sins will
be forgiven. (CEV)
4. What is the main point of verse 16?
Colossians 2: 6You have accepted Christ Jesus as your
LORD. Now keep on following him.
7Plant your roots in Christ
and let him be the foundation for your life. Be strong in your faith, just
as you were taught. And be grateful. 8Don't let anyone fool
you by using senseless arguments. (CEV)
5. What kind of comparisons are being made here?
Romans 12: 9Be sincere in your love for others. Hate
everything that is evil and hold tight to everything that is good. 10Love
each other as brothers and sisters and honor others more than you do yourself.
11Never give up. Eagerly follow the Holy Spirit and serve the
Lord. 12Let your hope make you glad. Be patient in time of trouble
and never stop praying. 13Take care of God's needy people and
welcome strangers into your home. Make friends with ordinary people. (CEV)
6. Why does God usually keep ordinary people at the center of His teachings?
